Linen Blouse

Comments open at {Natrual Dyes}. I finished this blouse using a pattern out of {Sew Liberated} twenty stylish projects for the modern sewists by Meg McElwee. This one does not have the puffy sleeve that the pattern called for. I made one blouse using mater-

ial, one using a recycled shirt and this one pictured here was made out of a vintage table linen.

Natural Dye for Linen

I used natural dyes on this blouse I made with a table linen to cover up the stains that were on it. The embroid-

ery threads got a little muted, but at least the colors didn't turn all one color. I didn't want to use commerical dyes because I thought they would for sure turn the embroidery threads all one color. I used dan-

delion and some other natural dyes before settling on using tea. I just wasn't getting it dark enough to cover the stains. I need to learn a bit more about natural dyes. Do some experimenting. I lost my other blog entry trying to add this pic. I never saved the before pic. It is fun to experiment with natural dyes. I was able to turn the trim so it would show on the outside of the underarm of both the sleeves. I was happy with the results when finished with this project. {Pray 4}

Pop-Up Card

You can find a link to instructions and patterns at the ship pop-up I made here: {Robert Sabuda}. I find that double sided pattern card stock works well for these cards if you don't want to go through coloring them. I added a ribbon and made the card a little longer than it was suppose to be because the candles were sticking out a little bit above the card when I shut it. I just glued ribbon to a strip of cardstock and glued it to the card in the middle. I used glue stick & doublesided photo tape. There is a cute reindeer I might try for Christmas next year. You might check out One Pretty Thing blog for another doe and fawn pop-up card that looks a little easier. I might try making both next year. Just remember that if you are going to mail them they just might cost you more postage to do so.
