Link: {Front Porch Party Giveaway at Purple Cucumbers Folk Art} Menu: {Dandelion Fritters} {Lentil & Wild Rice Salad} I used sprou- ted lentils and brown rice in place of cooked lentils and wild rice. {Sunny Apple Salad}-{Carrot Lemonade}-{Ginger Ale}. This is as close as I could come to the recipe in a 1943 Joy of Cooking book:{Applesauce Cake} The difference is that the Joy of cooking called for 1c. nut meats or currents. 1/2 tsp. salt & 1-3/4c. flour. Sprinkle a little bit of the flour over the chopped raisins and chopped nuts b/4 adding to batter. I do not make icing either but I would for the porch party. I like to serve Italian bread with a little chopped or minced garlic in tomato sauce. I found this recipe for: {Italian Bread Dip}. A {Sheppard-less Pie} I did not make, but did make a Corn-Meal Mush Pie out of Joy of Cooking with what I had in the house. {Mom's Special Hummus} with a Vegetable Tray and {Popcorn Cookies}. Guest: All who want to stop in and have fun! Music: Mandolin, Bottles and Jugs and the sound of beautiful melodies joined in harmony as each guest arrives. Games: Croquet will be set up on the lawn, along with horse shoes. A Checker Board will be set up on the Front Porch and a deck of cards if anyone would like to play Crazy Eights.
